This photo was taken a few years before increasing numbers of people, trying to "swim with the dolphins" started to be a problem. I have lived on Lana'i since 1991... and I have completely stopped trying to photograph the Spinner Dolphins underwater. When I see them approaching the bay, I don't even go into the water. At this point, I only photograph them from the beach as they leap from the water. The effect of this print is that the dolphins seem to be flying in mid-air over a sureal landscape.
