The Lana'i Summit Hike This is a very special adventure hike that is designed to encompass some of the most spectacular views on the island of Lana段. Starting at the Koele Golf Pro Shop, you will be guided on an informative and challenging hike that climbs 1000 vertical feet in the first hour! The summit of the hike reaches about 2800 feet above sea level which provides exceptional scenic vistas along with a great aerobic work out! On a clear day you will see beautiful mountain views of Lana段 City, Maunelei Gulch, Hookio Ridge, Koloiki Ridge, and the islands of Maui and Moloka段. You will hike through some of the most dense forests areas on Lana段... sometimes hip-deep in luxurious ferns... sometimes with towering Eucalyptus tree canopies overhead. The hike covers about 4.25 miles and lasts about 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours. Some of the most scenic portions of the Munro Trail will be traversed on the last half of the hike, looping back to end at the Koele Golf Pro Shop. This is a hike for experienced hikers who want to see the heart of Lana段痴 amazing mountain landscapes. Your guide, Joe West (resident photographer and trail guide), will introduce you to some of Lana段痴 flora, fauna, and colorful history... as well as giving you some photography tips along the way. The following gear is highly recommended: Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes (no sandals), at least one liter of water, light snack, sunscreen, hat, layers of clothing to accommodate changeable conditions from warm tropical sun to cool, windy, and sometimes wet weather on the mountain ridges.
